AUTHOR
Leroy V. Quintana is the author of six books of poetry and twice winner of an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation. He is represented in numerous anthologies and his work has been the subject of several NEA and NEH studies and panels. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1944 and served in Vietnam during 1967-68, where he kept a notebook that became the source for many of his poems. His Mexican grandparents, who raised him, told him numerous folk-tales (cuentos) as a child, from which he gets his talent for story-telling in his poetry. At present, he is Professor of English at San Diego Mesa College.
