    AUTHOR & EDITOR

    Victor Montejo is a Jakaltek Maya from the Northwestern Highlands of Guatemala where he was a school teacher before coming to the United States. His book of Jakaltek-Maya folk tales and fables, The Bird Who Cleans the World, is the first such collection published in English. He is the author of several books, including Testimony: Death of a Guatemalan Village, and the poetry books, El Kanil: Man of Lightning and Sculpted Stones. A professor of anthropology at the University of California-Davis, he lives in California with his wife and children.
